Bateria Workshops
Come and join our bateria workshops and learn samba drumming and percussion. All ages and abilities are welcome, so no experience is necessary, and there are beginners courses as well as rehearsals for beginners and regular/intermediate players. There's no need to book in advance, just come along to a taster session to try it out, or register for one of our beginner courses. You can also join as a member and play on parade with the School.
All sticks and instruments are provided at our workshops, but if you have your own instrument you are welcome to bring it along.
Please check the Workshop Details on the right for full dates, costs and times of our workshops.

Craig Radmall - Assistant Mestre
Craig joined the Brighton School of Samba in 2008 and after just one rehearsal was hooked. As an experienced kit drummer, he started his samba career on the caixa and surdo 3 before turning his attention to learning other instruments in the bateria. Craig is the Mestre for beginner sessions within the school and assists Gez with leading the bateria on parade, primarily in the 'kitchen' section of the bateria.

Russell Fielding - Assistant Mestre
Russell also joined the Brighton School of Samba in 2008, and after playing a range of instruments in the bateria, showed an outstanding aptitude for the repenique. Russell is the Lead Repenique player and Assistant Mestre of the school, working in both Beginner and Intermediate sessions, as well as assisting Gez with leading the bateria on parade.
