Brighton Carnival

Brighton Carnival burst back onto the city streets in Summer 2007 as a huge, colourful parade including hundreds of local and international performers weaved its way through the Lanes and onto Brighton seafront, culminating at Hove Lawns with a finale stage performance from Brasil's very own Monobloco.

In 2008, Brighton School of Samba were crowned 'Best Large Band' winners in their first Brighton Carnival parade, and retained the title at Brighton Carnival 2009. In 2010, BSS were awarded the Gold Award at Worthing Carnival and in 2011 we made our debut at Brighton Pride in front of an audience of over 100,000 people.

Join Brighton School of Samba on Parade at Brighton Pride 2012

With the Olympics this year, there is no Brighton Carnival. However, the Brighton School of Samba can still be seen in its full glory at various events including the St. Ann's Well Festival on May 19th, the Brighton Pride parade on September 1st and Burning the Clocks parade on December 21st. There are plenty of ways you can be involved with the Brighton School of Samba at any of our events, including:

• Parading as a member of the Bateria by attending our drum workshops
• Parading as one of our dancers by attending our dance workshops
• Helping the School to design and make costumes for the parade
• Helping steward the School on parade
